Journey to discover

Last year December we celebrated one year anniversary of Brand monali g… For me it has been quiet a journey from corporate to couture, enjoyed every bit of it.

As George Eliot said – It is never too late to be what you might have been.

As I get ready for my next trip, I want to share my amazing experiences and images that I captured along this journey. Passion to create something unique, took me to an adventure to the Pink City! Last year around the same time I jetted to India to get a fresh dose of inspiration to infuse into our designs.

I am so fortunate to the have a very exciting childhood, growing up in various exotic places in India. When I share my childhood experiences with my kids they are in such an awe… they love the stories of me travelling to various parts of India every 2-3 years… staying in palaces in Jodhpur and Jaipur.

I never thought I would be visiting those same places again, this time to discover my passion. The first time I landed in Jaipur (the Pink City) it was nothing like what I remember almost three decades back. But somehow it had the same Regal charm that I always imagined.

I had absolutely no idea where to start when I was there for the first time after so many years. The most incredible part was how things start happening once you put your heart and soul into it. It’s almost surreal!

Next morning I sat by the courtyard, there was inspiration at every corner,

Morning breakfast was amazing, an absolute bliss… while I was reading my book, love traveling as you can catch up with all the reading, then I was pleasantly surprised by some live entertainment. 🙂 Traditional Etara player, saw this instrument after ages. By the time I was done with my breakfast, felt so stress free. Now I had all the energy to start the day with a big smile.

When you have a clear vision… things start to happen..

Feel blessed every moment that finally I can do what I love, let the creative juices flow,

The brand goal has always been to be able save and restore our age old traditional handicrafts, textiles. I am very fortunate to be able to work with Fair trade certified companies who think alike and help us give the respect and credit to our amazing artisans. This is my purpose! Here is one of our artisans working at the factory meticulously on the Kantha bags… It was nice chatting with him!

From the inception of hand block printing the fabric and then designing it, is the most amazing feeling. When you see someone wearing it feels great. Here are some hand block printed cotton fabrics from Sanganer near Jaipur… created into this beautiful summer dress that effortlessly transcends from Beach to Sidewalk.

It was great to share this journey with you all, one of the new year resolution is to keep up with the blog no matter what 🙂 Hope I can do it… till then
