“Elegance is the only beauty that never fades” – Audrey Hepburn

History of Shift Dress

Hubert de Givenchy has been credited with designing the shift dress. He designed the black shift dress Audrey Hepburn wore in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, in 1961 and the dress and the film went on to become a legend. He went on to design most of Audrey Hepburn’s wardrobe for her movies, and had many famous clients including Jacqueline Kennedy and Princess Grace of Monaco both great fashion icons in the sixties and both fans of the shift dress.

I have always been a big fan of Shift dresses. I love wearing Shift dresses as they give you an effortless elegance. The cut skims your curves and lines instead of clinging to them, drawing attention away from your tummy, flattering on most body types.

In the pursuit of creating unique Shift dress, monali g uses fabrics that were unique and hand woven fabrics like Ikat, embroidered with Kantha. It blends the western dress style with eastern craftsmanship so create a one-of-a-kind statement look.

A shift dress, by definition, is a short dress that lacks detailed shaping. These dresses tend to be sleeveless, and can be plain or feature A-line skirts or empire waists-think Audrey Hepburn and Jackie Kennedy in the late ‘50s-early ‘60s.

The shift dress is versatile and user-friendly for any woman, any season. It’s all about finding what works best for you. Always remember, stay comfortable, stay confident, stay YOU.

Love this quote!

Each one of us have an individual style that creates our identity. The best feeling is wearing an outfit and being comfortable in your own skin and not debating whether you are following fads. So create your style today, be unique, and Happy Tuesday 🙂

Fashion is a fascinating thing, constantly changing and shifting – as styles go in and out, often reappearing years and decades later. Style, on the other hand, exists in a sphere of its own – timeless looks don’t need to follow trends to stand out and will endure forever.

Wearing a wonderful vintage choker Kuchi Tribal Necklace handcrafted in the mid 1900’s. For centuries such pieces depict ethnic beauty of the region they belong to. You can always pair this with a simple black dress… and voila! you have created your own statement look.

This is a topic very close to my heart, so here is a collection of my favourite fashion and style quotes to inspire you:
